On January 18, Swantner & Gordon, Higginbotham’s Corpus Christi-based arm, won the No. 2 spot on the list of Best Places to Work in the Coastal Bend among midsized companies, 51-300 employees. The awards program was commissioned by the Corpus Christi Human Resource Management Association (CCHRMA). Rankings were based on employment practices and considered turnover rates, growth, employee training, promotion percentages, benefits and some 30+ other factors.

Higginbotham Donates Fire Alarms in We’re Out to Alarm Texas Campaign

Higginbotham joins the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT), the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and First Alert in donating smoke alarms to the Forest Hill Fire Department in North Texas. Forest Hill firefighters will install the smoke alarms in the homes of low income and elderly residents this year thanks to the We’re Out to Alarm Texas smoke alarm campaign. The program now in its seventh year has saved three lives and prevented the destruction of several homes across the state.

Forest Hill Fire Chief Ed Henderson said fire fighters received 100 smoke alarms that will soon be installed in Forest Hill homes. “We ask that seniors and low income families contact the Forest Hill Fire Department if they would like for us to install smoke alarms in their homes,” said Chief Henderson. “Firefighters will also check each home for possible fire hazards as well as making sure that any smoke alarms in the house are working.”

Twelve hundred smoke alarms were donated this year to firefighters in Mansfield, Odessa, Farmers Branch, Waco, McKinney, Galveston, San Angelo, Abilene and Forest Hill prior to the start of Fire Prevention Week (October 9-16). The cities were chosen by the State Fire Marshal’s Office because of their high fire fatality count and the willingness of the fire department to install the smoke alarms into the homes of needy citizens.
